Those who are new to the vaping community will undoubtedly come across a number of “vaping words” from retailers and other users. The definitions and meanings of some of these terminologies are provided below.
electronic cigarette - a cigarette-shaped device that vaporizes and inhales a nicotine-based liquid to replicate the feeling of smoking tobacco, also spelled ecig, e-cig, and e-cigarette.
disposable vape – a small, non-rechargeable device that is precharged and already filled with e-liquid. The difference between a disposable vape and a rechargeable mod is that you don’t recharge or refill disposable vapes, and there’s no need to buy and replace your coils.
vaporizer pen - A battery-powered device shaped like a tube, consisting of a cartridge with a heating element that produces vapor from any of a variety of substances, especially liquid containing nicotine or cannabinoids or dried material from cannabis or other plants, allowing the user to inhale the aerosol vapor.
pod system – a complete design of two main parts. The detachable cartridge contains the oil and the ceramic heating element which acts as the combustion core of any vape. The cartridge is attached to a rechargeable battery, which can usually be charged with a regular charger.
Cartridges - Also called vape cartridges or vape carts, are a way to inhale nicotine or marijuana. Most commonly, they are pre-filled with nicotine or cannabis.

Nic Salts (Nicotine Salts) – Nic Salts is the natural state of nicotine that is blended with liquid, thus creating a suitable e-liquid that can be vaped. The nicotine in Nic Salts is better absorbed into the bloodstream unlike that of distilled nicotine in typical e-liquid.
Delta-8 - Delta-8 tetrahydrocannabinol, also known as delta-8 THC, is a psychoactive substance found in the Cannabis sativa plant, of which marijuana and hemp are two varieties. Delta-8 THC is one of over 100 cannabinoids produced naturally by the cannabis plant but is not found in significant amounts in the cannabis plant.
THC - THC stands for delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol or Δ-9-tetrahydrocannabinol (Δ-9-THC). It is a cannabinoid molecule in marijuana (cannabis) that’s long been recognized as the main psychoactive ingredient—that is, the substance that causes people who use marijuana to feel high.
Atomizer – Also called “atty” for short, this is the part of an e-cig that houses the coil and wick that is heated to produce vapor from e-liquid.
Cartomizer – An atomizer and cartridge in one, cartomizers are longer than regular atomizers, hold more e-liquid and are disposable. These are also available as punched (for use in tanks), and with dual coils.
Coil – The part of the atomizer used to heat or vaporize e-liquid.
E-Juice (E-Liquid) – The solution that’s vaporized to create vapor, e-juice comes in a variety of nicotine strengths and flavors. It is made from propylene glycol (PG), vegetable glycerine (VG), flavoring, and nicotine (there are also some without nicotine).
